Thirteen Things about my Aunt Pasty!

1.  She was born on July 18 1958 and went to see Jesus on December 15, 1978.

2.  She died 6 days after my 8th birthday.

3.  I still have the belt with my name on and a Gideon Bible she gave me.  The Bible is on a decorative stand that stays on my bedside dresser.

4.  That Christmas I remember everyone being so sad.  I remember my grandmother going into her room and bringing a gift out.  It was the only Christmas present she had bought before she passed away.  It was a little doll with long black hair, wearing a red dress with polk a dots, red shoes and a red purse.  It breaks my heart to say I lost it, but somewhere in my moves in Baton Rouge I lost the last thing my aunt ever bought.

5.  She loved to play the piano which is why I think I took lessons.  I always wanted to be just like her.  Only problem, she could play the piano, I memorized all my pieces.

6.  She loved to sing.  There’s a tape that I believe my Aunt Dottie has of Aunt Pasty singing “There’s Just Something About That Name”.  Again this is one of my favorite hymns.  It reminds me of her.

7.  I remember getting in a whole lot of trouble once in mission friends.  I remember us coloring on a page and at the top of the page I wrote the words….do do.  I was told that was not a nice thing to say or write.

 8.  As most kids do when the phone rings they love to answer the phone.  Well so did I when I was a kid.  Embarrassed her so much when I answered the phone once and it was a guy calling and I said to her, Aunt Pasty it’s for you,  it’s your boyfriend……

9.  I remember that I loved spending the night with her.  She had a typewriter and I would just type all night on it.

10. I remember she liked to bird hunt I think it was.  There’s a memory of her coming in the house and she’d been hunting.

11. She passed away before my cousin Henry was born.  He was the only one that never got to be with her or so we thought.  I can remember when he was little playing outside with his “pretend” friend all the time.  One day he is in my grandmother’s living room, points up to her picture and says “that’s her, that’s my friend that comes and plays with me”.

12. She loved the Lord and it showed.  There’s people today that still will say something and tell me how wonderful and special she was.

13. I guess with time there’s some memories that are not so clear anymore, but one thing I do remember and that’s being loved so much.  No matter how old I get or what happens in my life I know my Aunt Pasty loved me, held me, prayed for me and made me feel like a princess.  I just hope I can be the same type of aunt to Hunter, Samatha, Bailey and Tracer.

Since next Monday is my nephew Hunter’s 4th birthday, I’m doing

13 Things about Hunter!

1.  The first time I ever saw him, my brother was carrying him to the nursery.  Who knew then how he would change our lives!

2.  They lived near Six Flags in Texas for a while, so they had season passes.  One of his favorite words was Wheeee.  That’s the sound he makes on the roller coaster:)  And the school bus too.

3.  The first time he ever said my name was on the way home from daycare on Old Port Gibson road.  You’d think I’d won the lottery I was so excited.

4.  On of his favoite games was ring around the rosie (is that right).  I can’t tell you how many times we have all fall down.

5.  He loves water.  From taking a bath to swimming he love being in the water.

6.  In choir not long ago, the choir teacher asked them if they wanted to sing Jesus Loves Me.  Hunter said no and broke out into a country song that didn’t have such great words.  The whole group knew every word to the song.

7.  He loves to sing and he sings very well.

8.  He loves to dance.  They have him on video at Six Flags dancing and a crowd of people watching him.

9.  My dad has this walk where he puts his hands behind his back as he is walking.  Hunter walks the same way.

10. When I try to get him on the phone he does not want to talk to me.  It’s “Where’s Uncle Patt”?

11. One day when he actually talked to me I told him I was coming to see him.  He told no I wasn’t I was coming to see Cookie.  (My border collie that lives there)  He gives Cookie lots of attention for me.

12. The other day when I was there he was eating some candy and it was all gone he said.  He said he was going to buy some more.  When asked if he had money he said nope daddy does.  When I told him he needed to pick up his toys for the money he said that’s ok, granny and papaw will buy it for him.

13. He has a smile that makes my heart melt.  Who knew I could love as much as I love him and Samantha.

Thirteen Things I'm Looking Forward to after Friday!

1.  Other than the fact that it is Friday after all, but as of around 4:00 or when I decide to hit the door running, I'm on vacation until July 5th!  Yippie Yeah, Dawn is doing the HAPPY DANCE!

2.  I finally got my new helmet to go riding with Patt and have yet to go riding, so I plan on riding some Friday night.  Saturday and Sunday I'll let him ride without me since he'll be leaving his toy for a few days.

3.  Saturday I'm off to Utica for a wedding shower.  It'll be nice to see people I use to go to church with.

4.  Sunday after we get out of church and while Patt is riding I'm packing our clothes and some sunscreen.

5.  Monday moring we're off to who knows where.  We are getting in the car and heading toward Flordia.  We're going to just see where the road takes us and have some fun!

6.  I'm looking forward to us — ok Patt playing golf, but I do love to drive the golf cart.  I love golf and we both have a blast while we're out on the green.

7.  I can't wait to sit out on the beach and just enjoy listening to the waves and walking on the beach.  I love to walk on the beach at night.

8.  No cooking, no cleaning, no making the bed, no getting up 2 or 3 times a night to let Ruby out!

9.  NO WORK!!! No case mangers asking stupid questions, no e-mails with stupid questions, no case manager supervisor that gets on my nevers, no one griping about this or that, no phone calls, no Dawn can you do this or why did they deny my billing, no work 🙂

10. I'm looking forward to spending time with Patt.  It's strange we see each other every day, but it's just something about getting out of town, plus if he takes a job he's been offered I won't see much of him in the next few months.  So, I'm going to enjoy this time.

11. Shopping!  Even though I'm not a big shopper, I'm looking forward to looking for a gift for my MIL.  Her birthday was Monday and I haven't found the right gift for her, so maybe I'll find the perfect gift as we travel.

12. When we get back we'll still have several days before it's back to work, so Monday the 3rd my MIL and I are going out to eat and have girl talk just the two of us.  I'm blessed to have a great MIL!

13. I'm looking forward to spending time with our families and friends and cooking out for the 4th of July.  We're planning a group day and everyone will come back to our house for a cookout.

Bonus since I won't be here next week for TT….

I'm looking forward to meeting our friends new baby!  They are home and rested and ready for company so I can't wait to meet this adorable gift God has given our friends.

I'm looking forward to catching up on some reading.  I may actually get to read a book while I'm off work!

I'm looking forward to taking pictures of something other than motorcycles.  Sorry sweetie 😦

I'm looking forward to moving my blog to it's own home.  I'm in the process of researching and trying to decide on the perfect name and design so I can't wait to have my own home!

Thirteen Thursday

(Thanks to Nello for the TT banner!)

Thirteen of Dawn’s favorite Christian Performers!

1.  Amy Grant.  When I was starting to sing in church, one of the first songs I ever sang was “Fathers Eyes”.  I remember getting into a fight with my dad and didn’t want to ,ok I refused, to sing it.  That’s when I learned about my heavenly Father and it was Him I was singing about.

2.  Micheal W. Smith.  Oh my I just love Smitty!  There are too many songs to list that I love!  First time I saw him I was about 23 and was on the floor and wanted to sit and enjoy the concert like an adult would.  There’s all these teenagers in their chairs singing and dancing and it dawned on, they are singing Christian lyrics and having so much fun so I got my hinney out of the chair, put my feet in the chair stood up and had a blast!

3.  Todd Agnew.  Awesome artist.  I love how he performs with no shoes on.  He has such a strong love for the Lord and it shows all around him.  He’s probably my “current” favorite.

4.  Steven Curtis Chapman.  Too many songs to list, but I love “Dive” and “I Will Be Here For You”-which was one of the songs I played at our wedding.  I use to sit and play that song on the piano and think of Patt!

5.  Mercy Me.  These guys are so cool.  I just love them!  Right now I’m loving their song “So Long Self”.  That song is what I’m striving for.  To say so long to the old self!

6.  David Meece.  I remember him from a youth rally I went to many, many years ago.  He sang a song “We Are The Reason” and I just never forgot how I felt that night.

7.  Sandi Patti.  Growing up singing in church I always loved to pick her songs to sing.  I just love the memories of our group singing in church.

8.  Point of Grace.  Another group that there are too many songs to list.  I just love the way they sound together.

9.  Chris Rice.  His song “Untitled Hymn” is breath taking.  I just love the way that song makes me feel.  He’s such an awesome artist.

10. Selah.  The song “You Raised Me Up” is another song I feel in love with and played at our wedding.

11. Casting Crowns.  I just love “Who Am I”, “Voice of Truth” and “If We Are The Body”.  These guys are awesome!

12. Chris Tomlin.  “Holy Is The Lord”.  That’s one song I love to sing over and over.

13. Mrs. Shirley and Mrs. Judy.  Now you won’t hear them on the radio but these two ladies played such a big role in my life.  I love music because they loved to teach it to us.  Mrs. Shirley was my piano teach and Mrs. Judy was my voice teacher.  I haven’t seen Mrs. Shirley since they retired and moved but I see Mrs. Judy almost every time I go home.  When I wouldn’t go to church God spoke to me through music and I am so glad He did!

Happy Thursday!!!

Thriteen Reasons Dawn Need a Nice Hot Bubble Bath

( and maybe a glass of wine too! )

1. I have been stessed that I had to remove my old blog (all about funand life) and start this new one because a co-worker was reading it everyday.

2. Same co-worker is driving us nuts at work and will not turn the a/c on low enough to cool the office off. She's cold. Well we're hot and it's 90 degrees outside!

3. My mom is in the hospital with mirgaines that act like a stroke. If they don't get them under control they think this could lead to a stroke.

4. Someone I love dearly is worried about his marriage and I can't fix it for him. Wish I could but this is something he has to work out himself.

5. Hubby has been offered a job that will be more money but he will have to work nonstop for 6 months and it's an hour away from our home. He has a month to make a decission.

6. Just found out there will be a new program that I will have to start billing for. Problem is my case mangers can't get the program they already have done right. I wish before they make new programs they would talk to the people who have to deal with all the problems first instead of running head first and having us clean up the mess.

7. Rumor has it Jackson is getting an arena football team which will be located by our building. This means they will be pulling our lease on the property, buying our building and we will be moving. If/when don't know yet, but it sounds like it's a done deal.

8. Last year a friend from the past was involved with a road rage shooting. He has pleaded guilty and will be sentensed in a few weeks. His ex girlfriend who is still one of my friends calls me wanting to talk nonstop about him going to jail and now she feels sorry for him. Sorry you shot and hit a young lady in the arm. He could have killed her, wrong is wrong!

9. Mom's side of the family is wanting to have a big 4th of July family cookout. After the Easter cookout, Dawn and Jimmy will make an excuse! Now I just have to find a way not to make mom upset.

10. I've got to have a tooth pulled. The thought of it makes me so scared.

11. Every time I turn around someone is asking when we're going to have a baby. This is driving me nuts. We're almost ready we just need a little more time.

12. I want to change churches and I don't want to hurt our pastors feelings. I adore him and his wife, I just don't care for the some things going on in our church. Time will tell if we leave.

13. Last reason I need a bubble bath. I just want one!!! Just because it's so relaxing and I just want to relax and enjoy some peace and quit!
